Cook a Traditional Irish Dinner

What better way to celebrate than making a traditional Irish dish in your Acero Estrella Commons kitchen? Shepherd’s Pie is one of our personal favorite recipes

Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef

2 tablespoons flour

1 tablespoon tomato paste

½ teaspoon dried thyme

½ cup chicken broth

1 cup brown gravy

Salt and pepper

1 cup mixed vegetables

3 cups mashed potatoes

Directions:

Preheat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Next, sauté the diced onions and celery for 3 minutes and then add the garlic for 1 minute. Increase the heat while you add in the ground beef. Make sure the beef is cooked and crumbly then drain any leftover grease. Next, sprinkle in the flour and add the tomato paste and thyme. Deglaze the pan with chicken broth to add flavor to the filling. Next, mix in half of the brown gravy and stir in the vegetables until heated through. Season with salt and pepper and remove the dish from the heat. Assemble the recipe by transferring it to a lightly greased 9-inch pie pan. Carefully spread warm mashed potatoes on top. Then set the pan in the oven at 550 degrees for 5 minutes. Remove the dish from the oven and get ready to taste a yummy meal!

Mix Up A Drink

St. Patrick’s Day marks a popular time to drink Irish-made Guinness and other beer-based drinks. This year, try making a homemade drink, like a chocolate Guinness float rather than going out.

Ingredients:

4 scoops of chocolate ice cream

2 teaspoons chocolate extract

2 teaspoons chocolate syrup

6 ounces Guinness draught, cold

Directions:

First, grab Guinness glasses and scoop 2 giant scoops of ice cream. Next, add the chocolate extract and syrup into each glass. Pour half of a cold Guinness into each glass and give a little stir. Now you have a tasty drink to sip on!
